Darley Abbey, a UNESCO World Heritage mill village, still has a lot of its original workers' cottages, low ceilings, narrow stairwells and timber that's a couple of hundred years old in places. Chester Green and the streets near the Racecourse have solid Victorian terraces with the same alcove and understair layouts you'd find in Nottingham's older housing.
